World Toilet Day

Last Thursday was World Toilet Day - Stand up so others can sit down! Raising awareness that almost 1/2 the world's population doesn't have adequate sanitation. I participated in an exhibit at the U.S. Capitol as a volunteer with Water For People.

Redskins Game

I went to a Redskins game last weekend with my Dad. And the Redskins actually won one! They were playing the Denver Broncos. We were a tad late, so we missed the Broncos 1st touchdown. But the Redskins tied it up pretty quickly...celebrations on the field after:

It was tied up again at 14-14 for awhile, until the Broncos got a field goal (see score board):But then so did the Redskins, and it was tied again...punting back to the Broncos:And the Redskins kept scoring...extra point after getting another touchdown:
So the score is now 17-24, Redskins in the lead for the first time this game!

OBX Marathon Cheering Squad

Ahh, nothing like going to the beach in November!
Although it was too cold to go swimming, that didn't stop the surfers:So why was I at the beach in November you ask? I went to cheer on some friends who were running the Outer Banks Marathon last Sunday. The whole town was really into it too, with billboards around town like this one:
While there, the rest of the cheering squad and I visited Bodie Lighthouse, and some of us bought pirate books (and it wasn't me)
For reasons I don't really remember now - maybe because I've been to the OBX so many times and have so many pictures already - I decided to start playing around with photographing my lucky Eeyore who travels everywhere with me (yes, everywhere - Eeyore's been all over the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Tokyo, Rwanda, England, Costa Rica...)

Sunday morning was the marathon. I didn't take any pictures, but my friend did. If you want to check out her photos, click HERE. Our friend Brian qualified for the Boston marathon! Boston in April anyone?

NYC on Veteran's Day

On Veteran's Day, I visited NYC with two classmates (gotta love being a Fed to get this holiday off). My one friend had never been.
We stumbled upon the Veteran's Day parade on 5th Ave. Here it goes past St. Patrick's:
We walked through the Garment District:
And of course Times Square:
Then it was off to Rockefeller Center:
The ice rink was open already, even though it wasn't really that cold:
We toured NBC studios. Saw the studios for Nightly News, MSNBC (while on air), Football Night in America, and...oooh, the 'hallway' where they film a lot of behind the scenes Saturday Night Live skits. Although we didn't tour it, only peeked in the windows, the Today Show studio is shown here:
We walked in Central Park for a little:
